EDC Announces Dinner Crawl - Taste the Flavors of Edgewater!
|
|
 |
Fourteen Restaurants Await You on Thursday, June 26th !

EDC is thrilled to unveil a new Edgewater event - a Dinner Crawl on Bryn Mawr and Broadway. Fourteen restaurants are pleased to offer samples from their menu for your dining enjoyment. Many established favorites will delight your taste buds. You'll also discover many new additions to the "menu" that are helping to make the Bryn Mawr area a dinner destination. Mark you calendars for Thursday, June 26th, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Many businesses will also feature samples for crawl participants. Salon Echo is offering hand massages and 5-minute chair massages. Holsten Real Estate will provide tours of two historic buildings on Bryn Mawr - the Belle Shore and the Bryn Mawr. Roving representatives from Red Bull will be distributing their product.
And to top it off, you'll be entertained along the dinner crawl route by samples from our local theatre scene. Quest Theatre is an established theatre located in western Edgewater at St. Gregory's. Steep Theatre is an existing theatre company that is relocating to Edgewater this fall. Both theatre groups will be on hand to provide "tastes" of theatre.
So don't miss it! Get tickets today at brownpapertickets.com/event/35974, call us at 773-506-4016 or stop by our offices. Advance tickets are only $25, so don't delay, buy today! Tickets the night of the event will cost $35. |

EDC Unveils Revised Logo
|
| |
You may have noticed the logo at the top of the newsletter has changed. Very perceptive, indeed! EDC decided to revise our logo to better reflect the name and character of Edgewater. We adore our lakefront location and this logo better captures this asset by abstractly representing waves on a beach. We hope you like our new look, but most importantly we hope you like what we do!

The Great Con - Con
Debate
|
|
 |
What is a Constitutional
Convention? Do We Want It? Dare We Try It?
The Ballot for the November 2008 General Election will ask if a
Constitutional Convention should be held.
- Are you prepared to cast your vote ?
- Is Con-Con a tool to lower your
taxes?
- Do the anticipated benefits of
rewriting the constitution outweigh the potential risks?
- What are the risks?
- What is the cost of a Constitutional
Convention?
- Can the state budget handle the cost?
These are some important questions that may impact your vote. EDC urges you to attend an informative Community Seminar we are holding to address these questions. Speakers include:
Harry Osterman, 14th District State Representative Andrea Raila, Property Tax expert
of Raila and Associates Bruno Behrend,
DaVinci Consulting Group Representatives from The Union League Your interests are at stake. Join us!

The Last Two Miles Lakefront Charrettes
|
|
by Paul Boyd
|
 |
Report on Charrette Results - 6/18/08 @ 6:30 p.m.
I urge Edgewater residents to attend a community dialogue over some of the initial ideas produced in the visioning and
charrette sessions for completing the final two miles of the north lakefront
parks. There was surprising consensus among many citizens of Edgewater and Rogers Park
about enhancing the lakefront park system. The meeting will be held on June 18, 2008 at the Broadway Armory starting at 6:30 p.m. Take a look at the preliminary schemes of ten
groups in Edgewater and Rogers Park on Friends of the Parks web site at www.fotp.org.

St.
Gregory's Protégé program gives students real-world
experience
Excerpted from an article by Suzanne Elder that appeared in the May 14 edition of Chicago Journal.
At St. Gregory the Great High School in Edgewater, students are getting the
chance to experience what it's like to be a filmmaker, a dentist, an accountant
or an engineer. Pairing students with local businesses in their areas of interest, St. Gregory's
Protégé program is giving students a taste of the real world, as well as forging
lifelong friendships with mentors. To become a Protégé partner, call Suzanne Stone at
