New Cafe on the Way
New local business owner John Winslow is ready to offer quality,
affordable, home-style cooking to the residents of Edgewater.
As the former owner of a Key West
bed and breakfast, John is no stranger to taking care of his patrons.
John felt Edgewater was the perfect home for his new business venture, Banana Foster
Cafe. He cites Edgewater's up and coming Granville business district as a
primary reason for establishing his cafe at this location.
John seeks to provide locally sustained, natural, "comfort
foods" that are affordable and rich in flavor. Expected prices are
$8-12 for lunch and $15-20 for dinner.
The Banana Foster Cafe is scheduled to open in mid January at
1147 W. Granville and will offer breakfast,
lunch, and dinner with brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Tentative hours
of operation are 7 a.m.-10 p.m., 7 days a week. For more information call (773)
262-9855. Curious residents are
encouraged to stop in and check out the progress.

Educating the Youth

"The most important gift a parent can give a child is an
education", this is the philosophy of local business owner Jan McCarter. In congruence with this belief, she opened up
an in-home tutoring service in November 2008.
With a B.S. in education, a M.S. in business, and her experience with
education in several foreign countries, this Edgewater resident of 30 years has
all the tools necessary to be successful.
Club Z is unique from other tutoring services because it
works with the child's current school curriculum. Tutors that are specifically matched with
students based on their strengths and weaknesses, maintain contact with
teachers to create the most beneficial environment possible.
When speaking with Jan it was obvious she has a passion for
helping today's youth continually expand their education. She mentions the ever changing and
competitive global environment as one of the many reasons for placing such an
importance on education.

Off-Street Parking for rent
Winter is here and the winter parking regulations are in effect, making on-street parking a trickier proposition. In addition, the City has now sold the rights to operate the City's parking meters to a private concern, and, as a result, reports indicate the parking meter rates will increase. No fear, as you can rent off-street parking at 1127 W Granville - literally steps from the Granville Red Line Station. The parking lot is located to the rear of the building and the rent is very reasonable, only $100/month. If you are interested, please call Xavier at 773-856-5191. A limited number of spaces are available and will be rented on a first come, first served basis.
